Spell Bee Contest

HDFC Life in association with The Times of India and Casio had conducted a Spelling Contest on January 18, 2012. Many students of class 8 and 9 successfully participated in the same and 15 students were shortlisted for the city finals.

Essay competition

Siddhanth Hazra of IV A has won a silver medal under junior category for Essay competition organized by the reputed Chennai based organization “Schoolsindia”.
Earlier he was adjudged the Ist runners up Creative Contest held in Aug-Sep 2011 organized and sponsored by the reputed “Pears” company. He received beautiful shield and a colourful certificate highlighting his achievement.

Graduation day 2012

The theme of this year was 'Chisel your own destiny’. The ceremony was marked by the procession of 162 young graduates, pledge and prayers, and melodious songs by the school choir. The students went down memory lane and were deeply touched by a video presentation depicting their journey at Carmel.
 Dr. Ali Khwaja was the chief Guest for this occasion; He urged students to compete within themselves and urged the parents to encourage the students to pursue the career of their choice.
 On this occasion, the Principal, Mrs. Dorothy Menezes advised the students that they were could chisel their own destiny with hard, disciplined efforts and actions. Valedictory address was given by the Administrator of the school, Mr. Roshan Menezes who reminded the students to stay focused for the forth coming examinations and prepare well with much needed verve. 

Global Leadership Summit

Shibani Hegde , Khushal Jhajharia of Class 9 & Abhishek Jayakumar of Class 8 along with their teacher coordinator Bindu Jayakumar attended the first ever Young Citizen’s Global Summit organised by the British Council at SAI International School, Bhubaneshwar between  26th-29th January, 2012.
The event was inaugurated by Shri Naveen Patnaik, honourable Chief Minister of Orissa and had a variety of modules ranging from Theatre, Communication Skills, 100 words, Youth Leadership. Fine arts, Big Dance to Tony Blair Faith Foundation & BBC WC with facilitators from U.K. 100 schools all over India participated in the Summit and there was a lot of camaraderie and exchange of ideas & views. The four day summit also included workshops by dignitaries like Mr. Subroto Bagchi(Vice Chairman-Mindtree), Mr. B.K Patnaik ( Chief Secretary, Odisha) followed by cultural programmes & a visit to the Konark temple & Sand sculpting festival at Chandrabagh Beach. The valedictory function was graced by the Governor of Odisha. The students took back with them a lot of memories, friendships & the importance of being a global citizen and ideas to start the Global Citizen Club in their respective schools.

Last Parent Teacher Meeting

Last Parent Teacher Meeting will be held on 25-2-2012 and report cards for A+, A, B+ Grades will be issued between 9.30 am – 10.30 am and for B, C, C+, D Grades between 10.45 am – 12 noon
Work sheet for primary classes ( I to IV) will be starting from 15th to 23rd February.

Admission for Pre-nursery/Baby class for 2012-13 will be considered in February 2012. Application forms will be issued on 06/2/2012.

 Admission for LKG/KG I for 2012-13 will be considered in February 2012. Pre - application forms will be issued on 21/1/2012 for one day only. 


The Taekwondo Association of Karnataka conducted the 1st Inter Club Taekwondo Championship 2012 –The Carmel Cup on 21st, 22nd January, 2012 at Carmel Playground.  Students from various parts of Karnataka  such as Karwar, Tumkur, Mysore, Chitradurga, Bangalore participated in the same. Carmel Taekwondo Centre School won the first place in the event Breaking .

Republic Day

The 63rd Republic Day was celebrated with much grandeur having had Dr.N.Girish an alumnus of the school, presently an Associate Professor at NIMHANS as the chief guest. A conversation to bring out the importance of the Republic Day and the vibrant dances  to depict the culture of different Indian States were the highlights of the programme.

HDFC Spell Bee contest

HDFC Spell Bee  contest in association with the Times NIE  was conducted on January 18, 2012 for the students of class 8 & 9 out of which 15 students have been selected for the inter school level.


The Times NIE Quiz competition was conducted on January 19, 2012 hosted by Ms. Poonam from NIE. The winners of the quiz were: I prize-Suhan Prabhu & Kushal J of Class9, II prize VigneshS. P &, Kiran N of Class 9 and  III prize  Bhargav G & Bibin Mathew of Class 9.

Schools India

Schools India under the aegis of HOPE Foundation conducted Essay and Art interschool competition.

The following students have won prizes at the All India Level. 

Vidya D Shankar of 6C won the   3rd prize.
Lavina G Khandelwal of 2D, Siddhanth Hazra of 4A & Varun Rao of 4A won  a  Silver medal.  Suvan B.U of 2A 7 Srivatsan of 7C won Bronze medals.

Manish N of 2B has won the II Prize. Likith K.M of 3B & Chandan M of 5C have won silver medals.
Rishab S of 1D, Harsha R of 2D, Yashash J of 8C have won Bronze medals while Adarsh Chhajer of 2D has won the consolation prize.

Aishwarya B. P of 7D has won a I Prize in ‘Janapada Geethe’ & III Prize in ‘Bhavageethe’ music competition conducted by Akhila Karnataka Music Academy.

Rotary Club of Indiranagar organized the 18th swimming competition for non-medalist on January 4th at Basavanagudi Aquatic Centre. More than 160 children belonging to 11 clubs all over Karnataka participated in the 32 events of the competition. Bhavana R of III C  won III prize in Butterfly and Breaststroke style in swimming.

As part of its 38th year of its launch Camlin Colours organised an All India Colour contest.  Prajith K, Jinal M Jain & Amrith Priya was awarded the best entries under Group D   whereas Shristi V of 7D was awarded the best entry under Group E.
